In Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, players will compete in events that take place in environments based on the official venues of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Using a supporting cast of characters from the amazing worlds of both Mario and Sonic, gamers will be able to compete as or against a range of lovable personalities including Mario, Sonic, Luigi, Knuckles, Yoshi, Tails and more. Innovative usage of the Wii and DS control systems to maneuver a favourite character will allow players to race the likes of Mario and Sonic down the 100m track, engage in exhilarating rallies in table tennis and churn water in a swimming heat, all while competing for the much sought after gold medal.

Features

  • Over 20 events to master. Includes stages that are modeled after real-life Olympic venues with actual Olympic events including track & field, archery, skeet shooting, table tennis, and gymnastics, as well as additional unlockable stages that bring in objects from the fantastical worlds of Mario and Sonic.
  • Four unique playing styles. The competition takes on a new dimension with the special strengths and abilities of each character. For example: Sonic and Yoshi (Speed), Mario and Amy (All-around), Peach and Tails (Technical), Bowser and Knuckles (Power).
  • Three game modes: In Single Match mode, players can try out each event individually; or try Circuit mode and compete for the highest overall score. In Mission mode, there are challenges created specifically for each character.
  • Wii controls get gamers into the sports action. Players swing the Wii controller for the hammer throw, notch the Nunchuk to shoot arrows and skeet, simulate different strokes for swimming medleys, and much more. Also, secret power boost techniques encourage players to experiment and find a competitive edge.
  • Multiplayer challenges for four players. Players can join in on the fun simultaneously on the Wii, competing with their friends in single events or in athletic circuits.
